Laohutang Fm
Type Locality and Naming
West-central Jiangxi. The Laohutang Fm was named by the Jiangxi Party of Regional Geological Survey in 1963 and formally quoted in 1965 (Guidebook of 1: 200 000 Scale Geological Map of Xinyu Sheet). The typical section is situated in Upper Laohutang in Xiajiang County, Jiangxi Province.
Synonym: (老虎塘组)
Lithology and Thickness
The Laohutang Fm is dominantly composed of dark gray and greenish gray medium-to thick-bedded blasto-tuffstone, blasto-tuffaceous arkosic sandstone intercalated with sericite-phyllite, tuffaceous phyllite and carbonaceous phyllite. The top commonly contains calcareous phyllite, chert and limestone. The total thickness is about 430 m.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
It conformably overlies the Xiafang Fm
Upper contact
It conformably underlies the Banli Fm; but Niujiaohe Fm is shown on schematic stratigraphic column.
